How to Use an Annotation Bookmark
Using an annotation bookmark is a fun and personal way to capture the moments that make every book unforgettable. There isn't a right or wrong way to annotate—make it your own! Here's the method I love to use:
1. Choose Your Book
Start by picking the book you want to read. Before you begin, take a look at the colors on the book cover for a little inspiration.
2. Pick Your Sticky Tabs
Choose sticky tabs that match the colors of your book cover to create a beautiful, coordinated look. Of course, you can also choose any colors you love! Once you've picked your colors, place them on your annotation bookmark and assign each color to a different theme, such as:

3. Start Reading & Annotating
As you read, place the matching sticky tab on any sentence, paragraph, or page that fits one of your chosen themes. Whether it's a quote that makes you smile, a heartbreaking chapter, or an unforgettable plot twist, simply mark it with the corresponding color.
You can place a sticky tab on a single line, a paragraph, or even an entire page—whatever helps you remember that special moment.
4. Create an Annotation Key
One of my favorite annotation tips is to create a small annotation key on one of the inside front pages of your book.
Simply place a sample of each sticky tab color on the page and write down what each color represents.
Even if you decide to use different colors for your next book, each book will always have its own personalized key waiting for you.
5. Revisit Your Favorite Moments
Once you've finished your book, you'll have a beautiful record of your reading journey. Months or even years later, you can flip open your book, check your annotation key, and instantly find your favorite quotes, emotional moments, plot twists, and unforgettable scenes.
